ode to tomatoes

I must take a brief moment to tell you about the tomatoes. Never have I had such scrumptious tomatoes. Here in West Port, Mass and adjoining communities, there are fruit and vegetable stands around each corner. We stopped at a market, the most verdant fresh market with a display of pumpkins, gourds, apples and the best tomatoes. Here were Heritage tomatoes of every color: red, yellow, orange, purple. Small cherry tomatoes of different shapes and colors, pink tomatoes, orange robust tomatoes. How can we buy just enough to satisfy our needs with out over doing it! Here we are , a few days later, still enjoying these tomatoes. I have had tomato sandwiches with a slice of cheese for four days. Tonight I made a fresh tomato sauce for pasta. Just one pink tomato remains. Maybe there will be more to come, but I wonder, will they be as scrumptious as the Massachusetts tomatoes?
